Superman has an invincible aura surrounding his entire body. It is said to be the reason that his suit doesn’t get torn during his many heroic acts. Of course his cape gets tattered, but really, we all know capes are dangerous anyways.
Being the strongest man alive, and having this field you would think nothing can hurt him.
Well you would be wrong if you thought that.
There are things that get through this field, or rather things that don’t. Superman doesn’t have to deal with pain or physical exhaustion, or finding the most efficient way of doing things. He can just barrel though life and pay no attention.
But what he misses then is the feelings of elation when he overcomes a seemingly insurmountable problem because for him there are none.
Well, there is one. He can’t let his emotions go at any moment, he can’t succumb to his passions and sweep Lois Lane off her feet. This is an example of the types of things that hurt superman. His weaknesses.
I understand Superman.
If he gives into his passions, He will destroy all that he touches, it is his curse and his strength, the never ending emotional energy that propels him forward, but forever contained and diminished through force of will. Superman walks a thin line between allowing the energy to flare out of control, and snuffing it out completely.
Perhaps Superman should let his flames die, steal the oxygen from them and live a safer calmer life.
Superman would truly then be invincible.
And if he did this, there would be no fear of flaring emotions; But he would stop caring. He would feel hollow and nothing.
This is how superman would become truly invincible, and also why he can never be invincible.
